Forge Care
Learning is about more than acquiring skills. Forge Care is how our educators shape each session: students attempt something new, receive specific feedback, revise their work and gradually take more responsibility for setting their own next goal.
Developing capability, confidence, character and direction
At Innovate Forge Academy, we want students to develop confidence, curiosity, resilience, independence and a growing understanding of what they are capable of.
Every student enters the Academy differently. Some arrive full of confidence. Some are hesitant to speak. Some are natural problem-solvers. Some are creative thinkers who have not yet discovered where their strengths might take them. Some know exactly what they enjoy; others are still exploring.
Forge Care means looking beyond the lesson itself and recognising the young person participating in it. Our educators seek to encourage students, notice emerging strengths, provide appropriate challenge and help students gradually take greater ownership of their learning.
The question is not only: “What can this student learn?”It is also: “Who could this student become?”
The Forge Growth Framework
Developing what students can do.
Helping students recognise that they can contribute.
Developmental habits and attitudes that support long-term growth.
Helping students increasingly understand where they want to grow.
Forge Care connects all four.
The Forge Care approach
Students bring different interests, personalities, strengths and learning experiences. Our educators seek to understand the learner behind the activity.
Students grow when they have opportunities to contribute. We encourage students to ask questions, explain their thinking, present ideas and participate actively.
Learning should not always feel easy. Students are encouraged to attempt unfamiliar problems, work through uncertainty and improve through practice.
Progress becomes more meaningful when students can recognise it themselves. Reflection helps students understand what worked, what was difficult and what they might do differently next time.
As students mature, we encourage increasing ownership of decisions, goals, projects and learning. The goal is not dependence on the educator — it is growing independence.
Parents and carers remain important partners. Where appropriate, we help families understand the student’s learning journey, emerging strengths and opportunities for continued development.
What Forge Care looks like
Understand the student’s interests, experience and goals.
Students engage with meaningful learning experiences and challenges.
Educators provide feedback, questions, perspective and encouragement.
Students consider what they learned and how they responded.
Students progressively encounter greater challenge, responsibility and independence.
Recognise progress, completed projects, presentations, demonstrations and personal milestones.
Capabilities for school, work and life
A student may join because they want to learn robotics, public speaking, creative writing, coding or entrepreneurship.
The deeper outcome may be a student who is more willing to contribute an idea, recover from a mistake, lead a team, solve an unfamiliar problem or begin a project independently. That is why we believe capability and personal growth belong together.

Forge digital connection
The Forge learning experience helps students continue learning beyond an individual class. Depending on the program, Forge may support activities, challenges, reflection, progress and learning resources that help students remain connected with their development journey. Parents can also follow aspects of their child’s learning through the Forge parent portal.
Forge Care is an educational and developmental approach. Innovate Forge Academy educators, coaches and mentors provide learning guidance, encouragement, mentoring and developmental coaching within the scope of our programs.
Forge Care is not counselling, therapy, psychology, medical treatment or crisis support. Where a student’s needs fall outside our educational role, families should seek support from appropriately qualified professionals.
