Programme overview

Creative Coding & Game Systems Academy

Creative Coding & Game Systems Academy is structured, educational game creation — not recreational gaming. Students investigate how game systems work, how rules shape behaviour and how programming produces interaction.

Through guided, project-based learning they break problems down, design solutions and refine ideas — skills that extend beyond games into real-world problem solving.

What students learn

Skills built through real practice.

01

Computational thinking

Decomposition, sequences and algorithms.

02

Variables & events

Making programs respond to what happens.

03

Inputs, outputs & state

Tracking and changing what a system knows.

04

Conditions & decision rules

Rule-based systems that shape behaviour.

05

Game design

Characters, environments, mechanics and objectives.

06

Interactive storytelling

Using code as a creative storytelling tool.

07

AI concepts through games

Rule-based behaviours, decision trees and adaptive responses introduced through creative coding.

08

Test, debug & reflect

Refining work and explaining design decisions.

Learning environment

Minecraft Education

Minecraft Education is one of the teaching environments we use for purposeful programming, systems and logic challenges. The focus is creation and problem solving, not gameplay. Not every project uses it, and the programme is independent of Microsoft and Minecraft.

Learning progression

Growth across terms.

01

Discover

Parent FAQs

Questions families ask.

Does my child need to know how to code?

No. Beginners are welcome; students with experience extend into more complex mechanics.

Is this just playing games?

No. It is structured, educational game creation focused on coding, logic and systems thinking.

How is Minecraft Education used?

As one teaching environment for purposeful programming and logic challenges. Licence access is included in the term fee.

What concepts are covered?

Sequences, algorithms, variables, events, inputs and outputs, state, conditions, game mechanics and interactive storytelling.

What will my child make?

Interactive environments, game systems, logic puzzles, character behaviours and game-design prototypes. Projects vary by term.

What device is needed?

Students bring their own suitable laptop.

How big are the classes?

A maximum of eight students per instructor.

What is the term fee?

$390 per term for eight sessions, including Minecraft Education licence access — there is no separate licence fee.

Where and when are 2027 classes?

2027 class days and locations are confirmed at enrolment.

Is there a Starter Session?

Yes. A $50 Starter Session helps new families find the right pathway.
