One digital challenge
A guided innovation experience where young people use design thinking, digital prototyping, responsible AI, entrepreneurial thinking and communication to create and present an original digital solution.
The Forge Digital Innovation Challenge: Self-Paced offers students a flexible, guided introduction to digital innovation. Through five connected Forge missions, students identify a meaningful problem, explore user needs, generate ideas and develop an original digital solution.
They create a clickable prototype or another approved digital demonstrator, practise responsible AI prompting, consider the value of their idea and prepare a final presentation.
The programme encourages independent thinking, practical experimentation and reflection. Students progress according to their approved access arrangement and receive only the educator support included in the confirmed programme package.
This is primarily an individual learning experience. It does not automatically include live teamwork, daily Zoom sessions or a live showcase.
Student project: An individual digital solution, prototype, portfolio and presentation.
One authoritative curriculum
Self-paced learners complete the missions primarily as individual work; live teamwork and daily Zoom sessions are not included automatically.
Mission 1
Human-centred design and problem definition.
Student output
Mission 2
Communication, collaboration, decision-making and constructive feedback.
Student output
Includes an individual concept explanation, decision-making activity and reflection—not live teamwork.
Mission 3
Digital prototyping, technology and responsible AI use.
Student output
Mission 4
Value creation, feasibility and entrepreneurial thinking.
Student output
Mission 5
Presentation, demonstration, reflection and learning integration.
Student output
Uses a private submission format only if actual tools and permissions support it. The presentation remains separate from the prototype.
What Will My Child Create?
By the end of the challenge, students work towards an original digital prototype and a presentation explaining the problem they investigated, the solution they developed and what they learned.
A finished app, published website, commercial business or specific improvement in confidence is not guaranteed.
Digital prototype requirement
All four online editions require an original digital solution concept and an appropriate digital prototype or demonstrator.
Different starting points
No fixed age range, prerequisite, powerful computer or paid software is assumed. Accessible tools must be approved before requirements are published.
Responsible AI prompting
AI is a supporting learning tool, not a substitute for student thinking, decisions or verification.

“We are designing a digital tool to help students organise their school assignments. Our intended users are secondary students. Suggest three questions we should investigate before choosing the main features. Do not design the whole app for us.”
Students think first, evaluate suggestions, make their own decisions and test their ideas. AI-generated designs or code are not assumed accurate.

Parent FAQs
Answers use approved facts and identify unresolved operational decisions.
Students work towards an original digital solution, an age-appropriate digital prototype and a presentation explaining the problem, intended audience, testing and learning.
No approved prerequisite is published. Beginners can create a guided clickable prototype; experienced learners may extend the work with a simple coded creation using approved tools.
No. A fully functional or published app is not required. The minimum expected project is an age-appropriate digital prototype.
A clickable app or website mock-up, simple browser-based game or tool, interactive user journey, or another founder-approved digital demonstrator.
To be confirmed. Accessible creation tools must be approved before device and software requirements are published.
The curriculum includes a responsible prompting scaffold where approved access is available. AI supports student thinking; its suggestions must be evaluated and verified.
No. Robotics equipment is not required for any online Digital Innovation Challenge edition.
Live online editions use moderated collaboration and facilitator-assigned roles. Self-paced editions are primarily individual and do not promise live teamwork.
The support model is proposed for founder approval. Exact educator review, response times and any group Q&A are confirmed in the approved package.
No public publication is required or promised. Prototype demonstrations use private or approved sharing arrangements.
Students can document the test, limitation and possible improvement. Thoughtful testing and reflection are valid learning outcomes.
Public sharing is not required. Consent, approved tools, access, retention and private sharing arrangements must be confirmed before enrolment.
Only the proposed market-specific window is shown. Exact dates and times remain to be confirmed where stated.
Register your interest through the Academy's existing enquiry page. Paid enrolment is not enabled until the relevant cohort and process are approved.
