Programme description
Discover your imagination. Find your writing voice.
Help your child discover their creative writing voice. Students explore imaginative storytelling, character development, story structure and descriptive writing through engaging weekly activities. Guided writing exercises and constructive feedback encourage confidence, creativity and self-expression.

A clear journey from first practice to final reflection.
This introductory term sequence runs across one term, and later terms build on it with new topics and more complex projects rather than repeating the same activities.

Discovering My Writing Voice
Students explore creative writing through imaginative prompts, word games and short writing activities. They identify personal interests and begin a writing journal.

Words That Paint Pictures
Students explore adjectives, sensory language and descriptive vocabulary. They practise describing objects, places and experiences.
- Session 3
Building Sentences and Ideas
Students develop clear sentences and organise related ideas into short passages.
- Session 4
Creating Characters
Students invent characters and describe their appearance, personality, interests and motivations.

Imagining Places and Settings
Students develop fictional settings using descriptive language and sensory details.

Beginning a Story
Students combine a character, setting and simple event to create a short narrative.

Improving My Writing
Students revisit a draft and make age-appropriate improvements to clarity, description and sentence structure.

My Creative Writing Showcase
Students complete and share a short original writing piece. They reflect on their writing development and identify a future writing goal.

My Imagination Journal
Students develop a collection of short creative writing pieces. Their journal may include character descriptions, imaginary places, short stories, descriptive passages and creative writing prompts. Students select a piece to revise and share in an appropriate setting.

Coaching uses questions and age-appropriate feedback to help learners develop their own ideas; appropriate mentoring can support writing goals; and pastoral care centres an inclusive, child-safe environment without requiring personal disclosure or writing the work for them.

Students retain appropriate rights to their original work. Educator feedback supports—not replaces—the student's own thinking and writing.
Originality & attribution
Age-appropriate guidance covers originality, copyright, permissions and attribution for source material, images and collaborative contributions.
Privacy & consent
Private class sharing is different from public publication. Identifiable work, names, photographs or personal details require appropriate permission.
Safe publication
Public sharing, competitions, commercial distribution and third-party publishing require separate review and approval where applicable.
Responsible AI
AI tools are not promised. Any future use must preserve student authorship, privacy, independent thinking and age-appropriate safeguards.

Is my child required to be a confident writer?
No. Activities are adapted to age and experience, and beginners are welcome where indicated. No particular writing or confidence outcome is guaranteed.
What if my child struggles with spelling or grammar?
The programme values ideas and expression alongside age-appropriate development of clarity, spelling and grammar. Support is matched to the learner without writing their work for them.
Are the courses suitable for beginner writers?
Beginners welcome. Educators can help families choose a suitable starting point, and activities are adapted to age and previous experience.
How are students grouped by age and experience?
Grouping arrangements are confirmed for each intake. Educators consider age, interests, literacy development and previous writing experience.
Does my child need to complete the previous course first?
